superb film, which seems to have been unjustly forgotten in the contemporary market for Japanese cinema (i.e it is neither so-called 'J Horror' nor a gratuitously eccentric teen flick). the family's descent into madness (from squeaky clean suburban normality) is paced brilliantly, and the lunacy - when it comes - is satisfactorily extreme and hilarious. one of the great Japanese comedies of recent decades

A weird movie... Quite funny most of the time but soon you realize that this family has very special problems... The father is obsessed with white ants under the house, the daughter wants to become a singer or a wrestler whatever comes first, the son is getting crazy from studying and the grandpa falls back to be a soldier in ww2 again... and everyone thinks the others are crazy. Then comes the day when they start trying to kill each other to save them from their "sickness". This movie may be weird, but it is also very good. It will leave you thinking...

I can't believe that this is actually on Flixster! Excellent and oh so hilar...if you dig Miike's comedic stuff, you should definitely put this on your Xmas list.

Yes. This movie was awesome. Kind of like an easier to watch Visitor Q.
