I don't like much of what Dudley Moore has done, but this movie is brilliantly funny and insightful. A clever poke at advertising but stll profoundly revealing and moving.

Rated R and I saw it when I was 8 with my cousin. I went home after and asked my parents what a hand job was. I got in trouble. No good.

Directed by Tony Bill and written by Mitch Markowitz, there are far worse comedies than Crazy People out there on the market and Dudley Moore's adverts are, at times, pretty darn hilarious.

Just okay comedy starring Dudley Moore as an ad executive who has a bit of a melt down, decides to write advertisements that actually speak the truth about the product, which gets him fired and put into a mental institution. Of course, wouldn't you know, the ads become a huge success, and the boss needs new ads, so Moore asks the help of the fellow mental patients to write them. It had some good opportunities, I think whenever the actual ads were the main discussions it was pretty funny. Unfortunately, there was so much side story about the mental institution that I just didn't care for, particularly Daryl Hannah and her dull storyline. It had a lot of missed chances at good comedy. When I thought the movie was over it turned out there was still 30 minutes to go. I thought it was just meh, nothing special.

I loved the wit, directness, and the fact that all these odd folks had colorful and unique contributions to a common cause. Being needed, and gaining a sense of accomplishment is obviously a great feeling... especially when you've been cast aside as worthless. Dudley Moore's character is witty in his insistance on telling the truth in advertising... what a great premise. My favorite random line is when the asian fellow gets his car, takes off his shoes, gets in to drive, and announces, "I am going to run down some caucasions today!" I laughed through most of the movie. One more thing.... "HELLO."
