I'm surprised at the negative reviews. This is a thoughtfully directed drama with outstanding performances. There are some clunky time jumps, but it's a Hitchcock-type thriller that worked for me.

A near masterpiece. Beautifully shot, the wintery Canadian landscape mirroring the isolation and hopelessness of a fathers guilt, a mothers grief, and a daughters captivity. Atom Egoyan's capability to subtly yet effectively allude to horror without having to explicitly convey it - is a testament to his artistry and integrity. If you are looking for something explicit (Prisioners) this may not be for you. However if you are interested in innovative film - give it a go.

I love Ryan Reynolds when he's in a drama or action or anything, other than comedy. This is a psychological thriller that will leave you guessing to the very end and not have A.D.D. (even when you want to: like playing fetch with your cat). Moral of the story........ never ever leave your kid alone, no matter what!!!!! But this movie was awesome.

There is nothing unoriginal or tired in any Atom Egoyan movie. He'll never tell the same story again and again and will always make you think. Isn't that sometihng to celebrate even if it misfires?
