Beautiful... this was not ur typical slavery pic, nor was it about kill whitey. this was a real event that occurred. they did an excellent job creating the character of Nat Turner, and wut motivated him to act. it was not very bloody, nor was it gory. it was wut happens when u educate urself. you don't just feel angry you have reasoning and information to back up wut u are feeling. it was more poetic and emotional vs. shocking. it was excellent!

Congratulations to Nate Parker for creating a masterpiece of a film in birth of a nation. This is a stunning film of the highest order. Gripping, stirring, riveting and totally unforgettable.

This movie was mind blowing and one of the best movies I have ever seen. He was genius in writing, producing and directing this move while also having a leading role. Unlike other slave movies that have been done in the past, this movie set itself apart as the audience viewed the such bravery, will and spirit of the slaves despite being under wicked oppression. This movie also highlighted such horrors that slaves were left to endure and how evil many slaveholders were. Mr. Parker also added a dash of ancestry to the movie which intensified the movie all the more. I will purchase the DVD when it is available and recommend this movie for all to see.

This movie was shot for only $8 million dollars. Keep in mind. Based on the fact that it was made at all puts in in its own category. First time film director, Nate Parker, does a fantastic job telling the story of preacher, freedom fighter, Nat Turner.
