Dr. Malcolm Sayer, a shy research physician, uses an experimental drug to "awaken" the catatonic victims of a rare disease. Leonard is the first patient to receive the controversial treatment. His awakening, filled with awe and enthusiasm, proves a rebirth for Sayer too, as the exuberant patient reveals life's simple but unutterably sweet pleasures to the introverted doctor.

for a person who has been in the state for the patients in this movie at one time ( not as long as they were) I can attest to the power the medical world can have over you when you cant help yourself, and how having someone fight for you to be well can make all the difference in recovering

My Favorite Movie. Dont be shocked I do love my comedy's but this film is so perfect. It seems to have to right actors in the roles making Williams and De Niro's performace seem so perfectly matched it's my favorite and hope it becomes one of your's if you have'nt watched it yet

This is a great movie. The acting was AMAZING and it was all so very heart-wrenching... Also based on a true story. Very inspiring as well.
