Dr. Malcolm Sayer, a shy research physician, uses an experimental drug to "awaken" the catatonic victims of a rare disease. Leonard is the first patient to receive the controversial treatment. Make sure you have a box of tissues with you when you watch this. It's a great movie, but so sad!

for a person who has been in the state for the patients in this movie at one time ( not as long as they were) I can attest to the power the medical world can have over you when you cant help yourself, and how having someone fight for you to be well can make all the difference in recovering

First time I saw this movie was in Sixth Grade English Class. Today I just remembered what it was called, lol. I've always remembered the movie but never the title and I am so happy that I found out. Now I am going to buy it; very inspiring movie.

Strange but true- can't stand Robin Williams in comedies but his dramatic movies are the memorable ones for me
