"Sunset Boulevard" is a great movie. It works on two levels - as a satire about the hollowness of fame and Hollywood, and also as a look at what happens when one has fallen from grace. Its status as one of the greatest movies of the era is certainly well earned, and it has certainly survived the test of time. Nothing less than brilliant.

Cine. Eso es lo que define esta película: es para el cine, tiene guiños al cine, cumple los principales objetivos del cine; ES puro cine. Y hay unos grandes realismo y moralejas metidos en ella. Y todo ello se lo debemos no sólo al inteligente y bien elaborado guión, sino también a los personajes y la humanidad que les dotan los actores de manera sobresaliente, destacando a Gloria Swanson; ahogada en su orgullo e hipersensible debido a su fama. Porque así es Hollywood, y Billy Wilder, ni corto ni perezoso, pone toda la carne en el asador y nos demuestra esa otra cara de la moneda de la fama, metiendo de por medio un cinismo y un cruelmente irónico comportamiento por parte de los demás personajes. Y puede que esto haga que como contexto y en algunos momentos se pueda volver irregular, pero no importa. Porque si esta era su verdadera intención, ha cumplido con creces. Gracias, Billy Wilder, por este gran trabajo.

Billy Wilder knows, perhaps better than any other filmmaker, how to end a movie, and Sunset Blvd. may be his most viable proof of that.

I never ever miss this on television if I can help it. Absolutely one of the best classic movies ever! Gloria Swanson will always and forever be Norma Desmond. Well, Carol Burnett did a pretty good impression... lol

An absolutely fantastic noir film. Easily one of the greatest ever made, and a must-see for film lovers everywhere. This is a brilliant, dark, satirical look at Hollywood that shouldn't be missed. Delightfully twisted.
