You know with such an intriguing and silly premise, this movie has a panorama of opportunities to come up with some genuinely scary, gruesome and funny ideas. Does it fill these opportunistic wholes? In some cases, yes. There were a few nifty and pretty skin crawling visuals, and I chuckled here and there. But overall, this dumb mess of dialogue and awkward humour with characters you simply do not care about as their background is rushed and embarrassing. I was consistently questioning the choice of pacing as well as the lore of these mysterious bee like creatures. Give the monster some damn respect! It has all the wacky potential with little entertainment added to it. I really would give this one a miss, Stung is not funny nor scary enough to be anything. It's an experiment, and much like it's displayed creatures, turns out ugly and disgusting, coated with blood.

Until tepid animal-attack flick Stung, I had never thought to wish for a horror movie protagonist to not be rewarded with a make-out session at film's end.

Mr. Diez, a former effects specialist, skillfully blends viscous textures with cheesy digital flourishes. The screenwriter, Adam Aresty, also earns points for the dialogue’s blithe hit-or-miss humor. But it’s Tilman Hahn’s sound design, with its unsettling buzz, that will burrow most unforgettably into your memory.
