Huppert has a lightness of touch that makes it all rather sweet and the film takes an unassuming approach to the central romance, pleasingly refusing to make a big deal of the age difference.

It's whimsical enough to laugh every once in awhile and charming enough to invest in the character development if only to see reactions of those caught on the periphery.

Director Bavo Defurne does little to turn the movie into anything more than a pleasant diversion -- the kind of movie in which not much comes as a surprise but we hardly care.

Defurne is happy to let things unfold on the surface, à la Douglas Sirk. He clearly worships Huppert, and seems to rely on audiences feeling the same way, doing little to enhance her natural charms.

It's a breezy romcom, full of gauzy romance, wish-fulfilment, a great faux-Eurovision soundtrack by Pink Martini, and a May-December romance that reverses genders to little comment.
