If you consider yourself a lover of art or paintings then you MUST see this film. This is a MASTERPIECE. A true labor of love, beautiful. Get down to the ArcLight and see it today. There probably won't be another film like this. And also, sit in the front row.

Beautiful and creative movie that is a feast for your eyes. Memorizing to watch and an interesting story too. This movie deserves a wider audience and more marketing here in the states espcieally considering the undertaking to make this movie. Movie consist of over 65,000 hand done oil paintings that is laid end to end would cover the island of Manhattan. It also must be seen on a BIG screen to fully appreciate the work.. BTW Starry Night is not displayed at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam but it is displayed unceremoniously at MOMA in NYC without much of a crowd surprisingly - unlike the Mona Lisa with people in front of it 10 people deep.

An amazing experience and absorbing storey line

The critics got it right. This called an "animation" but really its something different visually. Its almost psychedelic with the way the images move and blend the colors. Sometimes the characters seem real at times. All of the visuals mimic Van Gough's impressionistic style and the characters are taken from his paintings using actors with some sort of animation filter. I have never seen anything like this and enjoyed it. The point of the movies is to tell the story primarily about Van Gough's latter years and suggests an interesting alternative to the circumstances of his death and sheds light on and questions the extent of his mental illness. The whole story and how and who tells it is very clever and captivating. I highly recommend this movie.
