It is all broadly scare-free and utterly ridiculous, but Shiraichi embraces the absurdity with delirious enthusiasm, showing us how the horror stuff on which we have all been raised might combine and blur into a recognisable but new entity.

Until the "fight" happens, the movie is as lifeless as either Sadako or Kayako. It felt like two film competing with the other to take as much screen time as possible. With 17 minutes left in the film, the two stories suddenly decide to actually do something and what I got was a dull, boring, and underwhelming letdown consisting of two vengeful spirits slapping each other for about five minutes. I won't claim to be a fan or expert on either franchise, but I can say that this was disservice to two horror icons.

The union of franchises will never lose its lumps, after all each character responds to different needs, however there are ways to turn monetary opportunities into something attractive. [Full review in Spanish]
