For a live-action movie adaptation of a video game franchise, Detective Pikachu does a great job making the pokemon real while trying to fit a more reasonable story in a game-physics-based world. I find only 1 section of the film needed more writing work, but it doesn't wreck the film if corrected. Overall, it is impressive work, a decent mystery, and a touching story.

I`ll put this really simple: if you`re a pokemon fan, you will love this movie cause it`s pretty much a pokemon animated movie in live-action form. the plot is simple but smart, lots of surprises, laughs , action and the pokemon are as adorable and funny as they are in the anime.

An absolute fun and fantastic adaption of a childhood video game/cartoon! Detective Pikachu brings back all the childhood memories and nostalgia we've experienced growing with pokemon. The movie brings to life the fantastic world of pokemon and the pokemon themselves are amazing too. The movie has plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments, even if there might be some plot point twists that come off as weird, dumb, or confusing.
