Easily the best video game film adaptation I have ever seen. Detective Pikachu combines great acting performances, incredible CGI, and a charming story to create an entertaining and delightful movie. Having played Pokemon as a kid, I found it very nostalgic, but there is enough fresh things to make this appealing to even a non-Pokemon fan.

At its best, the movie exudes some of the childhood whimsy of the Chris Columbus Harry Potter films. It's fun, but doesn't quite stick the landing in the biggest moments.

I've been a Pokemon fan since 1997, so please understand that my opinions on this film were formed through a thick lens of nostalgia. With that said, I believe this movie to be the absolute best representation of the Pokemon universe. As a long time fan, being able to sit and watch people and Pokemon interact in a modern setting in exactly the same way I imagined it during my childhood was genuinely magical. The story was better than I expected but lacked any significant depth. The characters were generally relatable and served the plot well, but didn't do anything to carry the film. This film is a dream come true for fans of Pokemon and will hopefully serve as an introduction to the property for young people.

The movie is entertaining and fun! if you' re a Pokémon fan you'll see that its a new proposal in the pokemon world far away from the movies we were used to see. Although the pokémons are very well done and addapted to share the big screen with actors, i noticed that there's a clear lack of variety of them. It's obvious that a really worked script was not the inttention for this movie, but its still a bit simple...

An excellent first attempt at a live action Pokemon movie. The designs were nice and nothing like the initial Sonic Movie CGI(i'm assuming they fix sonic haha). A decent story with some flaws, but still enjoyable.
