The ultimate "monster-movie" even over 75 years later this is still the film to judge all others by. Cooper and Schoedsack created not only a monster, or a movie, but a legend in his own right - Kong. Perhaps only Godzilla can rival him, but Kong was there first, and rightly holds his crown. Okay, so the effects are very crude by todays standards, yet hey still have a magical effect that looks astounding today, the care and attention to detail is in every shot, and in the end, it's not Denham we feel sorry for, nor even Darrow (played by the fabulous Fay Wray), but the Beast himself. Kong may have been slain by those bi-planes but his place in history is cemented forever by this timeless classic.

King Kong is an amazing and ambitious cinematic adventure, especially when you take into account that it was made in 1933. The acting is pretty decent, and the story itself is pretty good and has been copied many times, but where it really shines is in the stop motion animation, which may look silly to some now a days, in our cgi world, but for its time, it was a movie marvel. I know Peter Jackson loved this movie enough to remake it, but for my money, his version can't compare with the original, and in truth I wish he wouldn't have tried. Oh, and does Fay Wray have a pair of lungs or what.

The one, the only, the best, ageless perfection.made in 1932. Simply great.

It doesn't matter how many times this gets remade or updated, there will only ever be one true KING KONG ! A fantastic adventure, enhanced by time and undiminished by age. Roll on the 100th anniversary :)
