At times it gets lost in the backwaters, but the eccentric characters and offbeat humor make it an entertaining detour.

This film seems like it should be in the Film Movement series, it has the same look, feel and storyline as many of the films in that series. So if you like the Film Movement I highly recommend this movie to you. This movie is beautiful to watch the scenery and light is just lovely. The light in this film reminds me of light in the late summer in the Midwest (USA) even though the film is Australian. It has interesting character and the their interaction are realistic and believable. It is interesting to watch river/oyster farming life, I had no idea it would be so tough. Looks like I'm the first one to review this movie on this site. Wow.

Good example of Australian cinema. Shows a different side of Sydney to the usual one (it is set on the Hawksbury river which is pretty close to the city). Dialogue is great with some great one liners and the acting is good. It really captures the Australian character (if there is only one) really well. Scenery is superb.

A small, carefully composed film that rejoices in the parochial lingo and mores of its richly textured characters.

Location as character does not develop as this river is too bloody crowded. Sex scene that literally justifies the "all over the place" comments. Expected this film to taste better after all that shucking. No pearl. Spend your money on a day trip there instead.
