Never Too Late (2020)

It's been a long time since Caine, Bronson, Angus and Wendell—aka 'The Chain Breakers'—escaped a torturous Vietnamese POW camp. They now find themselves sharing a new prison, The Hogan Hills Retirement Home for Returned Veterans. Each of the boys has an unrealised dream they want to achieve, so they band together to devise a plan to escape their new hell. But the rules of engagement have changed. In fact, they can't even remember what they were—and that's half the problem.

Never Too Late never transcends the undemanding, old fashioned lighter-than-light entertainment for seniors that it’s meant to be.

Alan Ng 09 Jul 2020

It does get a little sappy without a hint of darkness at all. By the end, every plotline is wrapped up nicely with a pretty bow.

Glenn Kenny 09 Jul 2020

While it’s generally a pleasure to see stalwarts like Cromwell, Weaver and Jack Thompson (as one of the old gang) at work, one also wishes they had found, well, better work.

Lisa Kennedy 09 Jul 2020

While Never Too Late goes for a few too many old-folk chuckles, it also aims to probe the serious.
