Murder by Decree (1979)

Sherlock Holmes is drawn into the case of Jack the Ripper, who is killing prostitutes in London's East End. Assisted by Dr. Watson, and using information provided by a renowned psychic, Robert Lees, Holmes finds that the murders may have their roots in a Royal indiscretion and that a cover-up is being managed by politicians at the highest level, all of whom happen to be Masons.

Plummer is one of the better Sherlock Holmes. An interesting take on Jack the Ripper using one of the more popular (and sillier) theories.

Terrific tale about Sherlock Holmes going after Jack the Ripper! AMAZING cast handled well by director Bob Clark (A Christmas Story). Catch it if you can....

I usually find sherlock movies more of a parody of itself half the time. This however is not, this is probably the best Sherlock Holmes movies I ever seen and Plummer delivers the Sherlock Holmes I would expect the literary character to be, heroine addict and all.

An excellent film. Superb cast, brilliant performances against a marvelosu background make this a highly recommended viewing.
