I LOVE this entire movie! It's so funny ... and rewarding! xD

The film is still enjoyable enough, with good support from Christopher Lee as Holmes' brother Mycroft and a criminally brief appearance by Irene Handl as Mrs. Hudson and it is the performances throughout that maintain the interest.

too predictable. I don't know why Wilder chose to copy a story he can not handle. what was wrong with Doyle's original stories?

Lovely film - beautifully crafted and wonderful script. It would be nice to see the full version but even with a third of the movie missing it's still great fun to watch. All the actors are superb and the dialogue is very witty, as one would expect from Wilder, surly the most writerly director of all the 'old Hollywood' greats. 'This apartment is very small Watson and the last thing we want is to clutter it up with women!' Well said Holmes, well said.
