Just an awesome movie with flawless acting by Sean Penn yet again, just like in Mystic River. It doesn't matter your stance on gay issues this isn't a movie to be missed.

Gus Van Sant is a recognised figure in the indie genre, and when I first found about this project I was shocked. Milk presents to the audience Harvey Milk's rise and his fall. This presentation is represented by one of the finest actors today; Sean Penn in his finest performance since 2003's Mystic River. Milk also features stunning direction from Van Sant, a strong supporting cast and a magnificent screenplay. An important film. Milk is nothing short of a masterpiece. The last 20 minutes really tore me up.

Gripping, emotional, thrilling, and even depressing, Milk is Sean Penn's portrayal of the life of Harvey Milk, the US' first openly gay politician. It was easy to see why this movie won Best Picture in '08, as it clung you by the neck and would not let go, as Milk's inevitable fate unfolded before the viewer's eyes.
