With a plot as predictable as a haiku, RZA and screenwriter Nicole Jefferson Asher would have done better to embrace the strangeness.

I really liked it. cute love story amongst individuals and between poetry and hip-hop. great APPEARANCES. great poetry. great rhymes. Common, jill scott, murdamook, the list goes on. i was also kind of impressed with azealia banks performance. this movie reminded of an updated version of love jones; not as grown, but gave me the same feeling.

Love Beats Rhymes is the kind of movie that just doesn't get made enough. This is a sweet, sensitive, and smart movie about a young, ambitious black woman who decides that she can have all that she wants, school, career, a good man, and that all it takes is a little hard work and desire.
