After climbing up a mountain that must have been 80 million feet high, Cesar "The Joker" Romero, Hugh "Ward Cleaver" Beaumont and a supporting cast of Twilight Zone regulars defy geography, physics and principle science as they explore the jungles of a lost, mountain-top continent. A green world populated by big ferns, plastic palm trees and a few dinosaurs Ray Harryhausen threw away when he was 3. Sam Newfield's apparent obsession with mountain climbing does nothing for the plot and so much steam is lost before reaching the land of the lost that by the time the first brontosaurus appears it's just too ho-hum to ever find an exciting pace. The cast is it's one redeemable element and they do their best to sell this Wellsian imitation, however even these screen vets can't eclipse the sets and effects that seem to predate adventure films from twenty years earlier. Compared to the likes of Son of Kong or Mighty Joe Young, Lost Continent resides somewhere at the bottom of the B-movie scale.

haha, all I can really say about this movie is ROCK-CLIMBING. the science didn't make much sense and it looks like every other lippert film ever made

Ah ha! It's an okay movie, except for the butt grabbing scene and the guy in the background laughing.

Bad, lame, bad, Hits every cliche with full power.Why is it everytime a bunch of "civilized" explorers find some lost world its ' ALWAYS right when the land is self destructing? Only notable thing about this "film" was the rogues gallery of b-movie and future B-TV stars.

Lost Continent is another in a long line of movies about a group of men crash landing on an island and discovering dinosaurs. Well, this movie is that, but it can't even stay on track with its own story. It goes in a lot of different directions and ends up being a movie about a bunch of people climbing rocks and mountains all of the time to get to wherever it is that they're going. The movie was reportedly shot in a matter of days and used a bit of stock footage to fill in the rest of the details. It's unsurprising that the quality ended up being so awful. Even with the presence of Cesar Romero and Hugh Beaumont, this one just isn't all that interesting. It was featured on an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 where many people discovered it for the first time. Otherwise, I'd say that it would most likely be forgotten.
