Thirty years ago, Ray Reiter witnessed the brutal death of his parents at sea by a strange, octopus-like creature. C'est un quoi cette fois, la bestiole cannibale ? Un goeland ? Un marsouin ? Du phytoplancton ? Redevenons serieux : c'est un calmar geant qui protege un tresor grec englouti le long de la cote canadienne (si si, je vous assure, la, je suis hyper serieux). Serie Z ? Pas tout a fait : mediocre serie B, plutot. Il y avait une certaine volonte de realiser quelque chose qui tienne la route, comme une sorte de Jaws a tentacules. Sauf qu'il est difficile de flipper face a cette bestiole en mauvais caoutchouc, qui se voit presque releguee au second plan par une fumeuse histoire de pilleurs d'epaves. Neanmoins, on a deja vu bien pire et la premiere fois que le mollusque geant apparait (la aussi dans un cadrage rempompe aux Dents de la mer), on reprime quand meme un leger frisson de degout. Mais bon, perso, les calmars et autre octopodes, je ne les supporte qu'a la Diavola...

Award winner for the movie with the worst effects ever. But its sci fi. What do you expect. But when i first saw it i thought it was from the 70s but it was made in 06. Kind of scary there

Strangely not the worst squid movie, but it is up there. Bad acting, lame plot, faily poor CGI, overall you can tell that this is a very low budget canadian made movie. I saw this on the movie network under the name Deadly Waters, not sure why they changed it, but it sucked just the same.

Not-bad SciFi channel production, which is a double-edged sword: not exciting nor high production enough to stand out, and too competent to enjoy as a bad movie like, say, Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus. That leaves a passable yet unremarkable creature feature. I watched this for Victoria Pratt, star of silly sci-fi TV shows Mutant X and Cleopatra 2525. She's a solid action performer with enough acting chops to make her characters believable. And speaking of solid, her body is the blueprint of ultimate fitness while still retaining femininity. A waste that she plays the role of doctor in distress since she could easily clobber the bad guy (a grayhaired guy with a cane for god's sake) single-handedly. Oh well, at least as an oceanographer she still gets the swimsuits. Her hero-for-hire Charlie "I'm Not Jerry, But Only Barely" O'Connell also performs decently, while an upgrade of the antagonists would have helped.
