Fields at his best. Hen pecked but still the captain. If you haven't seen it, watch it.

Fields at his best. Kathleen Howard is perfect as the overbearing Mrs. Bisonette, but Jean Rouverol is rather bland as his daughter. The opening scene around the dinner table really hits home and the backporch scene, which Fields originally did on the stage, is the highlight of this film.

One of the funniest fucking movies ever. If you don't like this, I don't want to know you. If you've never heard of W.C. Fields, this is the perfect film to start with.

One of the funniest movies ever EVER made. Genius. The timing and craziness in the kumquat/Mister Muckle scene may be one of the most hilarious ever filmed.

Some good bits, some tedious. This is (for whatever reason) highly regarded by film buffs. I couldn't see the magic, but I did enjoy it in the same spirit that I enjoy most Keystone-esque early Hollywood comedy.
