My personal favorite Tracy/Hepburn movie. It's always touted as a femanist movie because a female lawyer is defending a female client who shot her philandering husband in flagrante dilecto. But as Spencer Tracy so ably portrays at the end with his Tears at Will, it's really about People rather than Male vs. Female. It illustrates the fact that gender stereotypes are fundamentaly irrelevant. And it's damn funnyl David Wayne was absolutely riotous! :D

One of the funniest comedies ever done. The screenplay is sophisticated and clever, Tracy and Hepburn are one of the most dynamic and best duos in cinema history. The battle of sexes is perfectly portrayed here. Excellent direction by Cukor.

Comedy is great and underrated and this film is both as it delves into the gender issue of woman?s growing want for power the struggle it puts on the family. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn are one of the screen?s best couple and in this film, they light it up as a married couple of lawyers who take the opposite ends of a case and play out their own frustrations in the courtroom. Everything is almost pitch perfect and the way the two get along in court is just hilarious, the dropping of a pen and talking under the table. George Cukor who usually leans a bit too much on the side of the female really struck a nice balance here or perhaps that was just because Spencer Tracy no matter how beat can always pull out the stop to get a victory.
