A group of oil magnates are trying to think of new ways to attract business. One of them suggests that they contact the inventor Pollard, who has devised a new gasoline substitute. Pollard himself lives in a home filled with his eccentric inventions. When he gets the message from the oil company, he is excited about the opportunity to demonstrate his innovation.

W.C. Fields best and most identifiable work. This ones a straightforward laugh fest as there is none of that bull involving song and dance numbers or a young romance subplot that hollywood lved to insert into its zany comedies of the time. Irascible as always there will always be only one W.C. Fields. And thats a shame. What a unique talent.

After all this time, "Carnal Knowledge" still works. It's sad how much of that film still applies. As for "Cursed", it wasn't really putrid just stupid and predictable.

Fields plays the henpecked everyman to perfection, and Kathleen Howard is an imperious battleaxe writ large in this superbly funny film. Highlights include Mr. Muckle's visit to the store, an irritating customer who demands kumquats NOW, and a gentleman looking for Mr. LaFong, Carl LaFong.
