This movie is my life. I have never wanted to be seen as a black man, just a man. This illustrates that so vividly. Outstanding cast.

the first film tackling biracial relationships, once again Poitier on the cutting edge. Amazing cast.

I wish we had watched this movie before we spoke about marriage to our respective families. It made me laugh and we wished we had learnt to present our case in a similar manner. Discrimination is an ugly word and unfortunately, still prevalent even today. My late mother was a great fan of Poitier and I am one, too. So this movie is a sentimental choice for me as well.

second favorite of all time!!! i normally cry throughout the film (as i have watched it more than 6 times now). just knowing that spencer tracy died before this was ever released, makes it even worse. katherine, spencer and sidney give top rate performances. sidney's speech to his father and the emotion that he shows during that whole fight is unforgettable! i also love the tenderness and the wisdom seen from the two mothers!!!
