Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973)

Inventor Goro Ibuki creates a humanoid robot named Jet Jaguar. It is soon seized by an undersea race of people called the Seatopians. Using Jet Jaguar as a guide, the Seatopians send Megalon as vengeance for the nuclear tests that have devastated their society.

The first Godzilla movie I watched which made me a fan of the series, and it's not very good. A guilty pleasure, though.

Godzilla vs His All-Time Low! Widely panned by just about everybody, this movie features the return of Gigan and the debut (and finale) of the giant bug-roach-beetle-drill-thing called Megalon. It's a strange mixture of the widely popular Japanese hero shows of the time and the widespread destruction of Godzilla, with more tendency towards the hero shows. There's even a requisite annoying child-mary-sue character, whose irritating dubbed voice pierced the eardrums of many frustrated viewers. It's definitely a must-see for B-movie fans, especially for Godzilla's phsyics-defying martial arts maneuvers. And for the Jet Jaguar song.

Look.....I know this film is not very good, but it is such a strange, action-packed, and fun entry in the series that I just cant help but love Godzilla vs Megalon in a very awkward way.

This movie is completely horrible in every way. It has a fight scene at the end that ignores the laws of gravity, a weird plot, and the single worst edit I have ever seen in a movie. But, it's my favorite "so bad it's good" movie.
