Black Rain (1989)

Two New York cops get involved in a gang war between members of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. They arrest one of their killers and are ordered to escort him back to Japan. However, in Japan he manages to escape, and as they try to track him down, they get deeper and deeper into the Japanese Mafia scene and they have to learn that they can only win by playing the game—the Japanese way.

This is the best American movie about Japan ever made. Michael Douglas kicks ass even when his fights are obviously fake. Yakuza are awesome. 1989 was a great year. It all adds up, and then they threw in Andy Garcia for good measure. Rock on.

This is NOT just another corny 80's movie. This movie has depth and shape to it. The soundtrack is awesome and Michael Douglas makes his character have more than the 80's touch. When Douglas' partner is murdered in Japan, you know that there will be hell to pay but like I said, this is NOT another 80's movie. It's more than that. This is definitely worth watching over and over.
