A magnificent first outing for Ryan Coogler both in writing in direction showing us Oscar Grant's life from his loving relationship with his daughter, to his troubled relation with everything else, be it a job, or his girlfriend. Michael B Jordan is really fantastic as Oscar, charismatic and fun, but also intense and scary when it came to what didn't work in his life. Absolutely loved it.

This movie made me realize that as a white woman I will never know the pain this young man went through for simply being black. That to me isn't comforting but rather haunting. Based on a true story. How dearly my heart goes out to his mom, gf and most importantly his daughter. This movie is amazingly filmed. So hard to watch but it does present a heavy dose of reality and all its struggles.

Destruidor, cruel, impiedoso, cru, além brutalmente honesto e necessário. Uma porrada de tragédia verdadeira na cara. Sem a menor gota de maniqueísmo, o filme mostra que ainda precisamos consertar muitos preconceitos nesse mundo cheio de falhas que nós mesmos criamos.

Awesome movie and very needing in this time of racism and injustice. Kapernick motives are deep within this movie. Disproportionately black folks are targeted a large percentage more than any other race and Mexicans coming in a close second.
