other than that one scene with lesbian implications, there's nothing special.

An odd follow-up that doesn't generate much fright or interest until its final scenes. The only nearly-spooky scene is the famous one with lesbian overtones, where Gloria Holden asks a girl to undress for her before she kills her. Other than that, this movie has little going for it.

Universal's sequel to the 1931 Dracula, and I can't decide if it shares equal standing or exceeds it. Gloria Holden plays Countess Maria Zaleska, the first female vampire in a movie. Van Helsing is arrested for killing Dracula and the Countess steals and burns Dracula's body in the hope that it was free her from her vampiric heritage. The Countess (who reminds me of my best friend stealth-bunny btw) is fabulous, and so are her outfits. A must have for any collection in my humble opinion. Includes one of my all-time favourite quotes from a vamp film: 'Sandor look at me. What do you see in my eyes?' 'Death' The Witching Hour used this soundbyte in their track Kissed By Death on What Sweet Music They Make Vol 2 compilation. Love it. :)

On a large budget and high hopes, Dracula's Daughter exceeds expectations with its methodical pacing and oppressive, melancholic tone.
