DRACULA'S DAUGHTER [1936]; made a few years after Universal Studio's made and realised this sequel to DRACULA [1931], unlike the squeal to FRANKENSTEIN [1931] , this film is no were near as brilliant as the original. Set after the events of DRACULA [1931], Professor Von Helsing (instead of Van) is arrested for murder of Dracula when two bumbling Bobbies don't realise what's happened. So the Professor sends for the help of an old student, a psychiatrist who becomes the target of the mysterious Countess Zaroff and for some reason victims start to appear with small bite marks on their necks. This film is quite interesting and notable for its Lesbian undertones to the character of the Countess. For a movie of its age it's incredible that the filmmakers got away with that side of a character when homosexuality was banned and frowned upon. A side for its boldness in a forbidden area of the time its well all round average sequel. My rating for this film is a small 60%.

I know this is considered to be no excellent movie, but I have really enjoyed it and feel that it generally doesn't have enough respect from a lot of people. This movie was originally going to be directed by the once famous James Whale, who directed some great classics. Such as "Frankenstein" (1931), "The Old Dark House" (1932), "The Invisible Man" (1933), and "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935). But because of script and censor problems, he couldn't direct it and Enrigue Tovar Avalos and George Melford ended up directing the film. While the film turned out good, it did not get as much respect as the other classic films of the 1930s from Universal Studios. So to make "Dracula's Daughter" feel more respected, I have decided to give this film a perfect five stars out of five, and Gloria Holden, the daughter of Dracula, does great playing the vampire of the story.

Draculan lopussa Dracula tapettiin ja loppu hyvin kaikki hyvin. Kaikki olisi ollut hyvin jos ei joku olisi saanut päähänsä että elokuva tarvitsee jatko-osan. �rsyttävin naispääosan esittäjä ikinä!! Melko kaukaa haettu juoni jolla elokuva liitetään Draculaan. Edward Van SLoan toki loistaa edelleen Van Helsinginä, mutta ketä kiinnostaa Van Helsing kun Dracula on jo kuollut? Hammer Studio aikoinaan sentään tajusi herättää itse Draculan henkiin.
