I know it probably goes without saying, but this is one strange film. Yes, the subject matter is very bizarre and unsettling. But what is most confusing is how the script can be so convoluted with such thinly-drawn characters, yet the film always remains intriguing and engaging due to the plot and the quartet of lead actors who do the best with their roles. Maria Bello is unsurprisingly terrific (she's one of the most reliable actresses), and Patrick and Sewell excel in their roles, expressing the regret, love, and angst of their characters; Brenneman also puts in a solid, yet brief supporting performance. The dialogue, at times, is so ineffective and generic, as it pushes these shock situations in your face just to get any sort of reaction. Nevertheless, "Downloading Nancy" is a troubled film that remains intriguing the entire way through due to the four actors' dedication to their (flawed) roles.

This is a tough one...It's either gonna sit well or turn people away. It is VERY dark & twisted. It's depressing, but it's kind of an independent film, and most "indie" sundance/type flicks use real, raw, human issues & angles in the storyline versus say a regular box office movie that makes it into the movie theaters. I liked it, it's hardcore, raw, and dark. It was more artistic to me in that nature, regardless of the storyline, what made it great was that these types of films are made more out of an "artistic" attempt rather than making it to make money, and those movies are usually the best ones. Be warned, it's twisted, but if you like that sort of stuff, you'll like it :)

New tag line: "Never felt like killing yourself? Well, you will." I happened upon this after seeing Rufus Sewell in "Dark City" and I wanted to see what he's been up to. It turns out, not much. There is not much in story and there is not a lot of character development, aside from Jason Patric's character. Although, it's not quite development if you never really know where the character is starting from. Based on true events, I have the feeling this isn't getting a lot of critical acclaim becaue it reads a little too close to life. With people who are unwilling to change and set in their demented ways, it seems as though the film is a passive portrait of depression. I think there is a good concept in there, there are really good performances, but the story is very dull. I think if you have the time and it comes on free on one of your premium cable channels, it might be worth the watch, but don't go renting this one; unless you have the netflix.

More downer than downloading, in search of an online kinky rendezvous with the grim reaper. Which is apparently just a mouse click away in chatrooms these days, who knew. Adventures in self-mutilation, and sexing up assisted suicide in cyberspace.

I thought this was an extremely good look at a woman living right on the edge. A husband who doesn't know she is alive, the incredible amount of pain and rage she feels yet can't express, except through self injurious behavior. Not a feel good movie, but definitely thought provoking.
