A very dark movie about the extremes and dangers that alcoholism can cause. Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick were both fantastic as alcoholics depending on each other to keep it together despite their growing dependancy on alcohol. The finale leads to tragedy that leaves you to draw your own conclusion. A movie I could watch again and again.

A gorgeously laid out tale of two alcoholics meandering through life. One is able to stop the bleeding (drinking) but the partner is not as strong creating a fine tension between Lemmon and Remick. It's authenticity is what makes it.

Fantastic classic. An intelligent tale of two people's battle with alcoholism, and the ups and downs of their life together. Lee Remick is especially memorable in this role (I did find myself wondering a bit if Jack Klugman had to approach every dramatic role he ever played so damn earnestly though... ;) )
