Court invites comparisons with the 2011 Iranian film "A Separation," even if Court director Chaitanya Tamhane hasn't achieved the same level of mastery with his feature debut.

I adored the camera work here. The shots that linger past the exit of the characters and start too early before the entry of the characters is a maddening concept. It is implemented with such gall. Coupled with that, there is barely any movement of camera. With such simplicity, the camera takes precedence and creates self awareness in the audience. The introduction, development, hopelessness and realism of each character is fantastic. There is no background score whatsoever and it is not missed. It makes the movie relatable and real. It gives the audience a true voyeuristic experience. This is a seriously good Maratha film and fully deserving of all accolades received.

The subsequent trial is absurd, and Kafkaesque, and tells us more about the social iniquities of Indian society than it does about justice, or the law.

A satirical yet formalist look at the outmoded Indian judicial system.

One of the best Bollywood Indie movies of this century (so far). It has everything to offer to everyone who can watch it. A must watch for cinema students.
