Tommy Lee Jones is a VERY wonderful actor!!!!!!

Although Cobb may appear to be a biography, it mostly follows around Cobb and his biographer as they tour the country. Jones rarely reflects on his playing days, compared to other bioepics, and the film tends to paint Ty Cobb in a negative light. Cobb is overly racist, abusive, and spends most of the movie drowning pills with hard liqour. Some intresting facts perserve for baseball fans, but if you truly want to understand Cobb's life, look elsewhere.

Audiences will be confused by what the picture is not. It’s not really about Cobb or baseball or a bygone era. It’s neither character study nor historic drama. It’s ambitious but oblique and unfocused, and only the most generous of viewers will forgive its numerous lapses and vagaries. The film’s prospects of breaking out of a specialized niche are remote.

I watched this film and was stunned at some of the stories told by Ty Cobb played by Tommy Lee Jones. However, throughout the film I was intrigued to continue watching to see what he would do next. It is amazing to hear the story of a legend of baseball and no matter what kind of person he was it still is interesting. The performance by Tommy Lee Jones is great and the story of his life is sometimes depressing but always memorable. Overall, it is a disturbing movie at times but I thought the movie was great.

Except for the beginning, this movie was focused on a character who was amusing because he was very stubborn in his ways and didn't overglorify the baseball player for just having a famous name. Also some really funny lines such as..."What a touching family story....your mother who just happened to kill your father..." Good movie.
