The Buddy Holly Story (1978)

A chronicle of the rise and brief career of rock 'n' roll star Buddy Holly, who aspires to play music the way he wants it to sound. Holly and his band, the Crickets, are first invited to record in Nashville, where they encounter creative differences with the producing staff. Later they play a major booking at the Apollo Theater, scheduled there under the mistaken assumption that they're a black band. Holly's career eventually goes solo -- until the tragic day the music dies.

A great movie! I love this one! I cry at the ending every time!

Even though I couldn't help but think of Gary Busey's normally more sleazy roles while watching the movies, I do have to say that he pulled off the role quite well. Anyways, definitely a very good look at the early rock 'n roll days and one of its greatest stars and his untimely death.

I thought this was pretty good actually, it showcases the music more than anything which is awesome. Surprisingly Gary Busey is excellent as Buddy Holly, I really couldn't imagine him in the role until I actually watched it. What I really liked actually was that the film finished on a high note, with a fantastic final performance. Certainly worth checking out if you love Buddy Holly or music from that era.

Aww...so sad. Really good movie, but the ending was a little weird...not as strong and evoking as it could've been.
