The first Wes Anderson and Wilson brother movie, it was goofy and oddly touching in the way only they can pull off. Even better, they actually edited this one so instead of a two and a half hour tirade, it was barely and hour and a half. As slow as their movies tend to be, shorter makes it better.

Two young men steal from their parent's house like some second grade crooks. Wes Anderson's first official short film is particularly inspired by the works of the cinema verité and the first American independent works of John Cassavetes. Though it may look a little too much like a film student work, there is no denying that there was already a definite style showing.

Interesting short which later became the feature film. A couple of things didn't really work but I was still laughing.

Interesting if you want to know how Bottle Rocket started out. I'm glad that Anderson eventually made the decision to reshoot for the feature length version, but the tone in here is different and interesting as well. Maybe continuing with this tone in the feature length film would have improved it, but that's just a long shot guess.

Not my favorite Wes Anderson film, a bit less plot driven than some others, but it was quirky in it's own way.
