Suprisingly enough, more convincing than its big brother in feature film format made two years later. This short, which got Anderson and the Wilsons to Sundance, is a remarkeable 13-minute oddball comedy with hilarious dialogue (which has developed into a trademark for both Anderson and the Wilson brothers) and really good editing. It's swift, funny and doesn't drag on as much as the feature does. Black and white does its part, too. This is where it all started. Perfect example of how to kick off a moviemaking/acting career.

Not my favorite Wes Anderson film, a bit less plot driven than some others, but it was quirky in it's own way.

The first Wes Anderson and Wilson brother movie, it was goofy and oddly touching in the way only they can pull off. Even better, they actually edited this one so instead of a two and a half hour tirade, it was barely and hour and a half. As slow as their movies tend to be, shorter makes it better.

Interesting if you want to know how Bottle Rocket started out. I'm glad that Anderson eventually made the decision to reshoot for the feature length version, but the tone in here is different and interesting as well. Maybe continuing with this tone in the feature length film would have improved it, but that's just a long shot guess.
