Probably could have used more polishing, but, in truth, it doesn't need that either: when you think CSI has said all there was to say to the point of being tiresome, Johnnie To take the formula, mix it with Scent of a woman and come up with a madcap black comedy uneven but fresh, full of lovely lunatics and beatiful women used as pungin'ball. That's madcap!

A daring if totally misguided hybrid of two very different films that may suffice for the director's fans, though will likely be remembered as a sloppy curio farce above all else.

There are parts and certain scenes in the movie that were top notch as far as storytelling and filmmaking goes. However, I can't say I agree with its storytelling logic or some trivialization of the blind.

I have always enjoyed movies by the great Johnnie To, and this was no exception. My only gripe was that it very quickly turns from slapstick to serious thriller. Nice to see Macau being utilized more and more in Hong Kong movies, although To is no stranger to using the island for so many of his previous movies. Blind Detective good entertainment, but nothing lost by seeing it on the small screen.
