Hot Fuzz (2007)

Former London constable Nicholas Angel finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Angel smells something rotten in the idyllic village.

One thing that separates Edgar Wright from any other modern filmmaker is that despite ramping everything up on the surface, there is so much to scrape on the inside. In Hot Fuzz, his usual team of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost bring on the greater goods when satirizing the buddy cop genre. With some heavy action, acerbic wit, and a keen eye for detail, Hot Fuzz dares us to think twice. The devil's in the detail, and maybe we need to switch off. The effort brought to the second installment in the Cornetto Trilogy gives us what we want, and much more for the ones doing as much dirty work as Sgt. Angel would do.

Quick, sharp and ingeniously funny, Hot Fuzz brings the best out of writer/director Edgar Wright as well as Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in this comedy masterpiece.

Sharply written, stylishly directed, and gleefully inspired, Hot Fuzz is a brilliant take on the Buddy-Cop genre and also just an amazing film all around.

Segunda película en esa trilogía no oficial de los "Tres sabores de Cornetto", y posiblemente mi favorita de las tres. Una inteligentísima comedia negra como solo el cine inglés es capaz de parir. Oscura y divertida a partes iguales, con una increíble capacidad para la autorreferencia y la "cine-referencia" en general sin igual. Pocas películas películas son tratadas con tanto mimo en su guión y realización como las que dirige el señor Edgar Wright, maestro del detalle puntilloso, y mago a la hora de crear películas en la que cada visionado es una nueva experiencia en la que descubrir nuevas perlas. Eso sí, el único posible "fallo" que se le puede achacar es el ritmo tan acompasado con el que se va construyendo la trama, y que para los menos exigentes puede resultar complicado llegar hasta el clímax con cierto interés. Claro que eso no es problema para la mayoría de nosotros. Brillante en su guión, y genial en su realización. Una comedia muy recomendada
