Not as always emotionally satisfying as it could be, but still a very entertaining thriller. Jude Law brings a solid performance backed by a strong, unknown supporting cast, and it's always nice to have a blockbuster type movie in January.

Black Sea is a dashingly eye-capturing suspenseful drama, deftly performed by Jude Law and perfectly directed by Kevin MacDonald. 4/4.

In recent years Jude Law has had a good effect on films at least to me compared to some of his earlier stuff which wasnt great. This is a brilliant and gripping thriller set around a crew of 13 (6 British, 6 Russian and 1 American) who take control of a U Boat to go to a ridge in the middle of the Black Sea to recover millions of dollars worth of gold but with the clash of the nationalities a mission that could have been simple turns into a disaster. I enjoyed this immensely as it was a well told and well acted film and kept me on edge the whole way through

atmospheric claustrophobic ride on a rusty old U-boat, kinda. law does well as the mercernary captian who has to deal with factions and bureaucracy amongst his already skeletal crew.
