What is most egregious, and seems completely lost on the filmmakers, is that the film is the very thing it attempts to expose: a pandering cash-in on faith-based films disguising itself as an honest examination of belief. And that, true believers, is unforgivable.

Thinly veiled "come to Jesus" film, no doubt produced by evangelicals

A fresh and honest look at cultural Christianity and what can happen when money and production overshadow the message. Believe Me achieves the seemingly impossible by combining witty, smart filmmaking with the audacity to challenge the modern day culture of Christian religiosity. But it doesn't stop there. Believe Me will leave you thinking about what's left when the masks come off and all the production value is stripped away.

Not your typical Christian film: it dares to question the money-making machine that is evangelicalism. But it doesn't dare question Christianity itself.

It has clever things to say about America's culture of faith and is full of humor for those familiar with the church scene.
