James Dean's best film and best performance, in Elia Kazan's masterful depiction of Steinbeck's Cain and Abel story, the main focus being on the Cain figure (Dean). Dean gives a performance of a character whose unpredictability is frightening, and has us hooked from a very wisely-chosen opening scene: stalking a mysterious woman dressed much like a widow.

The best James Dean performance of all time and not to mention the classic retelling of the story of Cain and Abel. It's a masterpiece that will never be duplicated ever again.

This is my favorite of the James Dean movies. James Dean is one of the two most talented actors I've ever watched and I especially love him as Cal.
