beautiful! i had no idea about Townes until this film. now i want to find his stuff everywhere. loved that they showed how troubled he was, loved the interviews, the scenes with his children. thought it was real interesting. and interesting that he came from a family where he had "everything," yet was still depressed, etc...

Watched a portion of this two or three years ago, before I had any idea who Townes Van Zandt was. Just recently revisited it via Netflix, and it was a completely different experience now that I was familiar with about 80% of the music. Moving and fascinating portrait of a complex, talented and flawed individual - with lots of interesting commentary by friends and contemporaries including Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, and several touching interviews with his wives and children. Highly recommended for fans and potential fans alike.
