Au Revoir les Enfants (1987)

Au revoir les enfants tells a heartbreaking story of friendship and devastating loss concerning two boys living in Nazi-occupied France. At a provincial Catholic boarding school, the precocious youths enjoy true camaraderie—until a secret is revealed. Based on events from writer-director Malle's own childhood, the film is a subtle, precisely observed tale of courage, cowardice, and tragic awakening.

This movie progressively went from uninteresting to amazing. Technically, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Just one of those moments where the first 30/45 minutes aren't cutting it. It really is an emotional movie.

Quite possibly my favourite film of all time! It is so moving and the fact that it is a true story just seals the deal for me.

This is a must see film. A Jew is going to a school in a Catholic Monastary.

Geez, Louis Malle made a masterpiece at a time period when (as i have said before) not many masterpieces were being made. The reason why I believe that this is such a wonderful work of art is because it is a gripping and sad film. It's a fantastic coming of age semi autobiographical work and deserved to win an oscar (which it did in 1987, I believe).
