Hillary Swank really puts herself out there in this flick - it couldn't have been easy to get into Amelia's character, and she does a really good job of taking the time to try and capture even the cadence of the way Amelia Earhart spoke. I thought the film did a good job of exposing the heart of this brave and amazing woman, including how exploited she was at times. The storyline did seem to get slow and I found my attention drifting off every once in awhile. I think I would have found it more interesting if the story had been more focused on her in first-person more often. I found the people around her to be on the tedius side, at times - but maybe that was kinda supposed to be the point. It's worth a watch on a lazy, rainy or snowy afternoon, and I agree with another reviewer - this is a good one to watch with Grandma. And even though you already know what happens at the end, it doesn't take anything away from the movie. You find yourself fascinated by this woman and really hoping that something different will happen this time around...

Excellent movie about Amelia Earhart, her storied flight career and what is believed to have happened on her final flight. Richard Gere and Hilary Swank are superb. Hilary deserves another Oscar for this role. This movie provides me with a new found respect for all that Ms. Earhart accomplished in her life. What a phenomenal woman!

When this actor (Swank) steps into the right role, she wears and inspires it like Denzel Washington.
