As far as a Superman stand alone film goes, this is one of the better ones (I wasn't a fan of the 1996 animated series) But I was a fan of the comic series and I was impressed with the fact they cut the unnecessary pieces of the story out and left the meat of the story and really fleshed it out. James Denton is an odd choice for Superman but you do get used to it and accept it by the end. I love Anthony Lapaglia as Lex...he sounds alot more sinister than Lex usually sounds in animated form. If you are a fan of Supes, this is a must...but I suggest this highly for any fan of great storytelling.

2D animation over 3D anyday. Also this is the best written Superman story...uhm ever. Perfectly distills the series, what's brilliant about Grant Morisson, and whats pure, good, and worth preserving about Super-Man and his brightly clad musclebound do gooding ilk. Perhaps too episodic to some, but I think thats part of the nature of the beast. Quote from "Talking with Gods" "So by issue 8 of All Star I asked Grant, 'does this mean Superman is God?' and he looked at me and completely serious answered "Yes, but a more pro-active God. Isn't that nice. To know that Superman is watching over all of us." Luthor's speech when he sees the world at the end, is what literature is all about.

Grant Morrison's award-winning story arc lovingly rendered in a single 75-minute feature. This adaptation suffers from its brevity, but people familiar with the source material will love it to bits.

A brilliant distillation of the comic and translation to the screen, tweaking and streamlining without butchering. It's a bit breathless trying to cover so much of Superman's mythology in so short a time, slightly more would have improved clarity and strengthened the best moments, but it very much respects all aspects of the character. The man of steel's best movie so far (animated or live-action) is funny, thrilling, inspiring and haunting.

Bravo!!! An astounding tale of couragesness and heroism as the man of steel deals with the possibility of his second death. Based on a incredible comic series by Grant Morrison, Superman must perform 7 incredible feats before his death, a turn of events orchestrated by none other than Lex Luthor. This was perhaps one of the finest Superman stories I've ever read and now it has been faithfully brought to animated life, as even the essence of Frank Quitely's art has been presented in the animation. All represented by the outstanding voice talents of James Denton and Anthony LaPaglia! I can only hope DC can keep these animated films coming!!!!
