[45/D+] A great deal of talent is wasted in this talky, amateurishly plotted neo-noir crime thriller. The film at times almost creates a modicum of suspense, almost, but the script is so monumentally under-developed it becomes harder and harder to take the proceedings seriously as the drama limps along, dull scene by dull scene. And, wow, what a really bad ending, so poorly constructed it boggles the mind. Too bad, great cast.

Decent claustrophobic crime drama directed by Kevin Spacey. Not a fan of Matt Dillon but I really enjoyed seeing cool character actors like William Fichtner, M. Emmet Walsh, John Spencer, and even pre-Rings Viggo Mortensen get their chance at the spotlight. Not crazy by how things play out but that's usually the case with these types of pictures.

This preposterously plotted, ineptly helmed film features the emabrrassing directing debut of actor Kevin Spacey, wasting the talents of Matt Dillon, Gary Sinise, Viggo Mortensen, Joe Mantegna, Faye Dunaway, and others.

A hostage thriller that plays out like a chamber play. The acting is strong from all the performers and the script is able to hurdle some nice twists and turns at the viewer, but for some reason it lacks the proper intensity and suspense needed to carry the film. Still, interesting and rather clever film that fans of thrillers will enjoy.
