Not bad of its kind, if watching a 10-15 meter long alligator ravage the sewers and streets of Chicago is your kind of thing. The usual stereotypes are there, the hero/cop with haunted past who's not believed, scientist/love interest, obnoxious reporter looking for a scoop, and even a great white hunter type. The pacing's decent, with enough scenes of the reptile having its lunch or dinner, i.e. people. Coming late as it did in the 1970's nature vs man films beginning with Jaws, it's not bad.

I've seen this film so many times and i never get bored of it. A true B movie classic. the wedding scene is so funny. The pool scene still scares me to this day though! :)

If you're gonna make a movie about a giant alligator running amok in the sewers, this is the way you do it! With plenty of nods to cheesy monster movies/B 70's films and a wicked sense of humor.

Possibly the best "killer animal" movie that isn't Jaws.

Surprisingly good "Jaws" rip off.
