SUCH a cool courtroom drama movie. With a combination like Wilder doing Christie and with stars like Laughton and Dietrich, the movie has enough punch for 3 movies! Loved it and still do. Would recommend it to anyone!

I was floored by the brilliance of this Billy Wilder film when I first saw it. Charles Laughton is great as the crotchety old lawyer recently returned from the hospital, but ready and able in mind to help out a seemingly innocent man. Tyrone Power, best remembered for The Mark of Zorro I think, gives an equally great performance as that seemingly innocent man. The women in her are also brilliant Marlene Dietrich and Elsa Lanchester being the perfect complements to their men. There are many other familiar faces for those that have the eye and the story is one of the best.

Absolutely brilliant. When he wasn't directing Marilyn Monroe puff pieces, Billy Wilder was making great films. (Though I admit a certain guilty enjoyment of "Some Like It Hot") This might be one of his greatest films. Even with some of the hilarious melodramatic acting, it is probably the second greatest courtroom drama I've seen after "12 Angry Men" Charles Laughten and Marlene Dietrich stole the film. I recommend it to everyone.

This wonderful movie based on an Agatha Christie's story, isn't only a courtroom drama with many unexpected twists and an unforgettable climax, but is also a mix of suspense and comedy. I especially liked the comic interaction between Charles Laughton and Elsa Lanchester, and Marlene Dietrich with her stone cold character was superb to watch! One can't but highly appreciate the old Hollywood after watching such masterpieces!
