Harrison Ford takes his first real stab at true dramatic acting and gets his first and so far, only Oscar nomination for it. Peter Weir directs a suspenseful and compelling thriller about a Pennsylvania policeman who has to protect a young Amish boy and his mother from murderous corrupt policemen. Awesome flick.

A glimpse into the simple lives of the Amish, and their relationship with the rest of society. Well filmed and a fine script. This is a must see.

Witness is three fully functioning films in one - thriller, fish-out-of-water and love story and all three work - possibly the apex of two careers(Ford and Weir) and immensely watchable. Modern Classic.

The most terrifying grain-related finale of all time. Suck it, 'Children of the Corn'.

Great movie that sets itself up as an action thriller but turns into a nice story about culture clash. I also liked how accurately it portrayed the Amish and how respectful it was toward their lifestyle. This is also one of the movies that shows that Harrison Ford can really act. Beautifully done and wonderfully acted movie. Too bad it's kind of become obscure over time but it's worth getting and watching. Also, keep your eyes open for a young Viggo Mortensen.
