Interesting because it's about not only religion but the intersection of religion and politics and love, and how all three can fail to buttress the others, in fact how they often hinder the others. It's one of Bergman's most economical, austere films, but there's a lot going on here under the surface. A master-fucking-piece.

The second entry in Bergman's early '60s "religion" trilogy, about a Lutheran pastor troubled by creeping doubts about the existence of God. Completely arresting, absolutely haunting.

i watchdd this its so real. the actors r so good. i wont talk about the plot ifi do itll ruin it 4 u. its good movie its not the same as everytihng. 5 stars.
