Jean-Pierre Melville's over-analyzed, highly suspenseful crime film landmark Le Samouraï contains one cool moment after another, with Alain Delon playing a criminal that you both cheer for and despise.

Alain Delon is so cool in this movie! And the sets.. oh my god.. the sets are so beautiful and rich. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves suspense and mystery.

Delon is astonishing in the role Jef Costello, a hitman who speaks only when necessary and is fond of samurai culture. Also, Melville's unique and genius filmmaking of using dialogue when it is only absolutely needed and developing the story through the images onscreen is pitch-perfect.

The movie that has inspired what film noir SHOULD be!! The movie was outstanding for it's cast and direction, and Alain Delon is remarkable at playing a hitman who truly is the last emblem of honor in a world full treachery. Silent, eccentric yet satisfying, Le Samourai is a must-see for those who truly enjoy a film for what it is....a story.
