Vincent & Theo is more than art appreciation, it is a treasure in its own right, unframed and arcing in the projector's light.

The enjoyment in Vincent and Theo comes more from the director's attention to art history than from his ability to interpret it anew.

Tim Roth does a good job with the role he's given here, but ultimately this movie captures not the artistic genius of Van Gogh as much as his violence and instability. A better title would have been "Vincent Breaks Things for 138 Minutes."

A look into the troubled life of Van Gogh, and his relationship with his brother. Although narrowly focusing on his troubles and instability, the acting delivers a very personal and moving look into the life of this famous artist.
